which album to buy first?

i've heard a fair amount of blonde redhead and loved all of it. i don't know which albums are which at all, and needless to say i don't own any. it's time to buy some blonde redhead, but i don't know where to start. can anyone point me in the right direction? do their different albums have different qualities? is there any one that's hailed as supreme?

i'm looking for more bands with a similar sound to blonde redhead. i'm into the slower tempo stuff, the sort of sad sound, and the female vocals. also, if any bands like that sound sort of french all the better. any recommendations? thanks in advance.

they absolutely fascinate me...i could watch it over and over just as i listen to their albums. melody of certain damage lemons and melodie citronique have always been personal faves. now i can add misery is a butterfly to that list...

i drove to washington, dc (from orlando, fl) to see radiohead.

they cancelled. so, i bought tix to see blonde redhead at the black cat (wouldn't want my trip to be wasted). they were so worth the 800+ miles of driving.

Hey, does anyone know if it's true that BR signed to 4AD records? I find that combination way too interesting.

Also, there is a 2 disc retrospective compilation coming out in Japan of the Gut label, one time home to the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Arto Lindsay and Towa Tei, and for some reason it contains a BR song called "Flying Douglas." Did they ever release anything on Gut in Japan? It seems strange to me.
